Caritas Czech Republic provided immediate assistance to Beirut

Recent Beirut port explosion that caused massive damages has subsequently evoked a great wave of solidarity around the globe. We have immediately joined the aid efforts – as well as dozens of people from all over the Czech Republic that have sent their financial gifts to the bank account of our public collection. The first financial contribution of 10 000 € from the CCR crisis fund was sent today. Together with this sum, the overall amount of money provided by Caritas Internationalis members to help Beirut exceeds 532 000 € at this moment.

The Three Kings money is on its way to those in need

The 20th anniversary of the Three Kings Collection is finalized and the money may therefore start helping in all the regions of our country. The amount raised by little as well as bigger kings in the collection boxes in January was increased by DMS and other donations sent to the collection account. On April 30th, the fundraised total of the 2020 Three Kings Collection was CZK 133,803,733.

Seven weeks since the crisis began: our help continues and we are thankful for your support!

Thanks to you, the “Collection for Czechia” account has accumulated almost CZK 4 million and the first money is being distributed to people in need in the individual dioceses; our employees as well as volunteers work with immense dedication in retirement homes, in counselling, in home-care nursing, they provide spiritual support, and advise to foreigners living in here – as a short summary of the Caritas Czech Republic endeavours in the past few weeks.

Bottom line: The Three Kings’ Collection broke last year's record. More than 130 million collected!

Now we know the contents of all the moneyboxes – and it's a record high! The Three Kings’ carollers pulled out all the stops, the donors were extremely generous, and we can help people in need better. Such is the bottom line of this year's Three Kings’ Collection. Donors put into almost 25,000 moneyboxes coins and banknotes totalling CZK 130,331,872, and another CZK 922,151 came through donor SMS during the broadcast of the Three Kings’ Concert on 5 January on CT1.

It's buttoned up! Home care gets extra cash, readiness for strike action is over

Readiness for strike action is over. The home health care segment is expected to receive about 30% extra cash next year. The Board of Directors, the highest body of Caritas Czech Republic, therefore decided to end the current strike action of the nurses, which had lasted more than a year. Home care can continue.

Conference: Let´s prevent debt traps!

On 11th May 2017, Caritas Czech Republic organizes a conference called “Let´s prevent debt traps! Policies to tackle over-indebtedness across Europe”. The topic of over-indebtedness has been chosen as a priority to work on based on the national Caritas Cares Report 2015. The event will take place at the European House in Prague.
