Caritas Czech Republic will provide modern medical equipment to a paediatric hospital in Cambodia

Caritas Czech Republic has been helping to improve maternal and newborn healthcare in Cambodia for a long time. This time we will equip the National Paediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the necessary medical equipment. Providing the necessary medical devices to the hospital and the associated training of local staff will help to reduce neonatal and under-five mortality rates and reduce maternal mortality.

The IHRA 2021 Inspiration Forum introduced innovations in humanitarian and development aid

On Wednesday, 10 November, the first IHRA Inspiration Forum took place at the Spojka in Karlin. Experts from NGOs and the private sector came together to discuss innovations that help address current development challenges. The event was created as part of the Labyrinth 2030 project and organized by Caritas Czech Republic together with the Czech Forum for Development Cooperation FoRs.

When a parent fails to pay child support from now on the government can help out

The number of single parents is increasing year by year in the Czech Republic, and the current economic situation is putting many of them in great financial difficulties. Especially when these people lose their regular monthly income for a while or deal with lengthy disputes with the other parent who does not pay the child support. Starting this July, the state should provide at least partial relief to single parents in the latter case through the payment of so-called substitute maintenance.

On 24 November 2021, another Red Wednesday event will take place to show support for people who are persecuted, oppressed or otherwise disadvantaged because of their faith. The events taking place in the Czech Republic will not only commemorate the situation of the oppressed faithful, but the proceeds of the fundraiser will also go towards the renovation of the Christian mission by the Our Lady of the Hour Church in the ancient centre of Mosul.

Masoud's story: How a Caritas grant helped him rebuild his life after he lost everything in the war

Masoud Ablahad Ishaq is a 53-year-old man who lives in the town of Bashiqa in Iraq with his family. He had to leave his hometown because of the war and after the area was liberated from ISIS, Masoud returned to Bashiqa and had to spend all of his life savings to reconstruct his home. Thanks to the grant from Caritas Czech Republic, he is now able to stand on his own two feet again.
