Many young people living in the rural part of Zambia face a lot of challenges ranging from unemployment to simple needs such as having the opportunity to participate in sporting activities. To them, having access to such things is a farfetched thing but thanks to Caritas Czech Republic and its partner United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees the youths in the Mayukwayukwa settlement can now more easily find employment opportunities or start doing sports and much more.

Red Wednesday will support people persecuted for their faith around the world

On 24 November 2021, another Red Wednesday event will take place to show support for people who are persecuted, oppressed or otherwise disadvantaged because of their faith. The events taking place in the Czech Republic will not only commemorate the situation of the oppressed faithful, but the proceeds of the fundraiser will also go towards the renovation of the Christian mission by the Our Lady of the Hour Church in the ancient centre of Mosul.

Masoud's story: How a Caritas grant helped him rebuild his life after he lost everything in the war

Masoud Ablahad Ishaq is a 53-year-old man who lives in the town of Bashiqa in Iraq with his family. He had to leave his hometown because of the war and after the area was liberated from ISIS, Masoud returned to Bashiqa and had to spend all of his life savings to reconstruct his home. Thanks to the grant from Caritas Czech Republic, he is now able to stand on his own two feet again.

To Promote Uptake of HIV testing, CCR Launches Czech/UNDP-Financed Project

Thanks to the new partnership with UNDP Georgia, UNFPA Georgia, the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC) and Tanadgoma, Caritas Czech Republic started working on the promotion of HIV self-testing in Georgia. With this in mind, our project will roll-out different behavioral messages aiming at mobilizing the youth to conduct HIV self-testing, and – based on their effectiveness – will contribute to evidence-based policymaking of National Center of Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).

Regular monitoring trips to the Caritas Czech Republic country offices are essential part of our work. They allow us to not only strengthen our working relationships with our colleagues abroad but to also meet our local and international partners and donors. And of course see the results of our work with our own eyes. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we could not travel to our country offices as much as we were used to. Evžen Diviš, Regional Manager of Caritas Czech Republic, has recently returned from his monitoring trip to Moldova, where he travelled after nearly a two-year break.

8 medical-social centers from all over the country will offer telemedicine services within a pilot project. The initiative aims to increase the population's access to quality social and medical services by providing remote online medical and care consultations. The project is to be implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in partnership with the Homecare Association.
