However, it is only the first essential step towards achieving lasting peace and addressing the enormous humanitarian catastrophe that the enclave’s population is facing as a result of the conflict.

Kindergarten teacher: Now I know how to support children with specific requirements

Caritas Czech Republic has been working on the development of early childhood services for many years. After a five-year initiative to support children on the autism spectrum, in 2023 we launched a project to support the Early Inclusive Education and Development Program in Georgia. At the end of the year, we visited one of the kindergartens involved in the project, where we saw the results of our work on-site.

Humanitarian crisis in Lebanon: Caritas provides on-the-ground assistance

The security and humanitarian situation in Lebanon is dramatically worsening. As a result of Israeli attacks, approximately one million residents have been displaced from their homes, now needing assistance to meet their basic needs. Caritas Lebanon actively provides humanitarian aid to displaced people, ensuring access to water, food, shelter, and medical and psychosocial support. Caritas Czech Republic has also contributed directly to the aid efforts on the ground.

Elena, a 47-year-old woman living with a mental disorder, recently moved to the Viitorul protected house in Moldova. Here, she found a supportive environment where she can learn to live independently and feel included. The protected housing, opened by Caritas Czech Republic, offers personalised care, helping residents like Elena develop vital skills such as social interaction, communication, and household management.

Loveness from Zambia thrives in farming with Caritas Czech Republic's support

Subsistence farming is one of the main agricultural activities in Zambia. Despite its importance for many families, many farmers still face several challenges. From limited access to quality seeds and fertilisers to inadequate irrigation infrastructure, small-scale farmers struggle. Like many others, Loveness, a 50-year-old widow in the Meheba refugee settlement, faced these challenges to expand her farm. Thanks to our support, Loveness now successfully runs her farming business.
