At a time when the world faces unprecedented geopolitical tension, climate crisis, and growing social inequalities, Pope Francis has proclaimed 2025 as a Jubilee Year. Its scope extends beyond believers – it carries a message of hope and renewal for all of humanity. Caritas Czech Republic, as part of the global Caritas network, joins the celebrations under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.”

In the small Christian town of Qaraqosh in northern Iraq, 54-year-old baker Rajaa starts her day very early. By half past three in the morning, she is already up, preparing everything needed in her bakery, which stands right next to her house. When ISIS stormed the town, she was forced to flee. She lost not only her home but also her bakery. Thanks to the support of Caritas Czech Republic, she was able to not only rebuild her destroyed bakery after the war but also expand it.

For three years, Ukraine has bravely resisted the aggression of the Russian army. Caritas Czech Republic, a long-term supporter of Ukraine, has stood firmly behind the attacked country from the first days of the conflict and will continue helping its citizens. This support extends both directly to the affected areas and to refugees in the Czech Republic. In 2024, Caritas Czech Republic and local Caritas branches (Olomouc, Ostrava, and Znojmo) provided a total of 28.178 million CZK in aid to Ukrainians abroad, and 31.278 million CZK to those who found refuge in the Czech Republic.

After a five-year initiative to support children on the autism spectrum, in 2023 we launched a project to support the Early Inclusive Education and Development Program in Georgia. A quarter of a year after the floods: Caritas Czech republic is still helping the victims, money from public and church collections is helping

Caritas Czech Republic continues to help the victims of the catastrophic floods that hit the Czech Republic in mid-September. A total of CZK 65.3 million has so far been used for initial aid. The majority of the funds go to direct assistance to families.
