The Autumn food drive in Czechia collected 520 tonnes of food and 60 tonnes of drugstore products

On Saturday, November 20, a Food Collection took place throughout the Czech Republic, where a total of incredible 410 tons of food and drugstore products were raised. A number of local charities from our Caritas network took part in the autumn round of Food Collection.

The goal of the nationwide charity event is the opportunity to show solidarity with people who do not have enough money to cover basic needs. Donated food will be of great help to them. It will be most appreciated especially by single parents, seniors, homeless people or people with physical or mental disabilities.

Food Collection usually takes place in all regions of the Czech Republic and is organized by food banks. Caritas Czech Republic is the official partner of this collection, which is traditionally attended by a number of regional Caritas.

„People have been remarkably generous, despite the recent rise in food prices. During the event, people gave us 804 kg of durable food and 674 kg of hygiene items,“ says Lenka Müllerová from Caritas Kralupy nad Vltavou.
