We are closely following the aggravated situation in Ukraine. We have organized the collection ‘Caritas for Ukraine’, by means of which, in cooperation with our long-term partner Caritas Ukraine, we focus on providing the people of Ukraine directly affected by the war with anything they need – water, food, hygiene and shelter. Part of the intervention is provision of psychological support.
By all that we can help people in the conflict zone, but at the same time we are preparing for a possible refugee wave and necessity to lend a helping hand to people coming from Ukraine to the Czech Republic. We have many years of experience with helping refugees and migrants both abroad and in the Czech Republic. We provide them with professional social and legal counselling services free of charge. We operate assistance information lines, and one of them is intended for Ukrainian citizens who live and work in the Czech Republic, as well as for the authorities and institutions in touch with them.
In addition, we are in touch with other partners and non-profit organizations – for example, food banks and others with whom we will be arranging specific steps for obtaining and subsequently distributing food supplies and other material support.
Caritas Czech Republic is now putting together an overview of the free accommodation capacities to be provided in charitable facilities. Of course, we will also help in finding other suitable places to accommodate these people and we are actively in touch with the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and other central state administration bodies.
